Fun with Rollie!

I am sooo excited to share the news that I have done a fancy collaboration with Rollie Nation (omg, the sheer poetry of it all!). This journey actually started a few years back with Rollie - I think maybe even before I had Hugo! It began with Rollie sending me some plain sample shoes to use as a blank canvas for customisation. This is my favourite kind of prompt, as the shoe acts as a parameter for me to play with and experiment on! And experiment I did! I sketched, spray painted, sewed, and glittered up a storm, adding pom pom and tinsel panels where done had been before!

Before I knew it, the experimental shoes were ready to be packed up into the post and sent off to the Rollie head office for their review. Delightfully, they liked what they saw, and so then began the process of sampling my creations, and seeing what techniques translated best to production.

The next fun part was receiving the samples, and wowee! It was so amazing to see the Derby Dazzler and Pom Pom Party in all their beautiful Rollie glory! The hardest part of the process was deciding on what kind of fringed/tinsel panel would adore the top of the Derby Dazzler…and what colours?! Gah! The decisions…

But make the decisions we did, and after many moons of working together…here they are! Available for your tootsies (and mine!) to wear. I can’t tell you how wonderful the process of working with Rollie has been…not juuuust with this collab, but also on my Brisbane Fashion Week show a few months ago. I was so grateful to them for donating HEAPS of their old studio samples for me to upcycle and use in the runway . The shoes added such a glorious touch to the outfits - it was magic!

Anywho, that’s all from me for now!
